Day Thirty Seven
Surrender…Complaining
It seems obvious that complaining doesn’t serve you or the person or situation you are complaining about. Until you read today’s message you might not even realize how habitual and unconscious complaining can be.
Nobody likes a complainer, right? So, let’s focus on gaining awareness about complaining so you can initiate positive change. Read the dictionary’s description of the word complaining and notice what you feel. Complaining; to express dissatisfaction, pain, uneasiness, censure, resentment, or grief; to find fault.
The part of this description that raised a red flag to me was – to find fault. Do you agree that to find fault in someone or in a situation is rooted in fear, not love? Do you agree that complaining reflects the play of the ego not soul-centered living? This awareness can help you to decide on what you choose to practice in your life.
Let’s start right now by initiating transformation to the habit of complaining. Be willing to catch yourself when you complain about – your food, your clothes, your body, your home, your job, your children, your friends, your partner, your co-workers and your neighbors. Be willing to catch yourself when you complain about – money, the weather, traffic or other drivers on the road, politics and the service you receive in a restaurant or retail store.
As I was writing this last paragraph, I felt uncomfortable. Why? Because I realize I complain more often than I would like to admit. I can see how it’s ingrained and habitual. I have changed many habits over the years and today, I choose to dissolve the need to complain. Care to join me?
Begin by asking yourself – does complaining serve you? It may support you in letting off some steam but in the end, do you feel better after complaining?
Are you ready to dig deeper and understand the reasons why you complain? If so, take out your journal and reflect on the following questions (it can help to recall something you’ve been complaining about. If it’s your spouse, your job, or the service you received) …
Am I unhappy (not just about the situation but in general)?
Am I angry or resentful (has it been building up inside of you)?
Am I stressed or tired?
Am I depressed?
Am I jealous?
Do I feel alone or unsupported?
Now ask yourself …
When you complain, are you projecting your own issues upon another person or situation at hand?
Can you see that the reason you are complaining about your exterior world is because something is out of alignment in your inner world?
Are you ready to take responsibility for your own healing in order to create your personal happiness and well-being?
It takes courage to reflect and to take responsibility for healing the need to complain. You are more evolved than you think you are. Imagine how grateful everyone else will feel when you stop complaining. Imagine, if everyone stopped complaining how happier our world would be. As I say, start with yourself and be the change. In your transformation you can hold the light for others to find their way.
May this inspire you to remember the truth – transformation is an inside job

Day Thirty Seven
Trust…In the Power of Gratitude
Gratitude is a powerful way to break the habit of complaining. Gratitude is rooted in love and when you choose to be grateful, you don’t want to complain anymore. Gratitude is a high vibrational energy of love and it feels much better than the fearful vibration of complaining.
Here are some examples to support you in transforming complaining to practicing gratitude …
When you complain about your job be grateful for your paycheck.
When you complain about traffic be grateful for the time you do have and choose to pray.
When you complain about your spouse be grateful for the love you do have.
When you complain about your finances be grateful for your home and the bed you sleep in.
When you complain about your body be grateful for your breath and the health you do have.
When you complain about your waitress share gratitude for the service you do appreciate.
In the practice of gratitude, you can choose to find the blessing in every life experience. This may be a challenge when life is not going your way and you feel all is not right in your world. Yet this is the time to go deeper into your practice of gratitude. Challenge yourself to seek the blessing and find the gift from those not-so–good-feeling moments. This is your opportunity to transform your fears to experience miracles of love.
Ask your Divine helpers for help as you heal and transform complaining to practicing gratitude. Ask them to show you a blessing in the midst of wanting to complain. Pray and ask them to surround you in love so you can find something to be grateful for even when you are suffering in pain, grief, or dissatisfaction. You don’t have to do it alone and you don’t have to figure it all out. Your Divine family wants to support you in unconditional love. The Divine know it’s simple. What you focus on expands. When your thoughts become one with gratitude, say “thank you” for all your life experiences and seek the gift, the blessing in each experience. Trust that gratitude will feel so much better than complaining.
Day Thirty Seven
Reflect and Journal…
If you haven’t reflected on these questions yet, take time now. Bring to mind something you’ve been complaining about and reflect …
Choose to practice the attitude of gratitude. Write what you are grateful for and notice how it feels to focus on gratitude.
